I have loved the score for Hazel Flagg since I first got the album when I wa a kid. I especially love the song, "Every Streets A Boulevard". Makes me homesick for NY. I own 2 original copies, the RCA reissue and the Sepia CD release. All the original RCA release from that era are gems in their own respect: Seventeen, Make A Wish and Call Me Madam with Dinah Shore. Even Two's Company with Bette Davis is an interesting listen.

Additional info: Although Sheree North is not on the cast album (she was a featured dancer in Hazel Flagg), she caused quite a sensation in the musical, with her looks and dancing.. She's the only original cast member to repeat her role in the movie version, Living It Up, which kick-started her movie career.

A little more irony. During the last chorus of 'Every Street's a Boulevard,' the Mayor (Jack Whiting) sings, 'Just remember those bridges and those buildings will never come down.' I've had the British release since it first came out and someday, when I have saved up enough pennies, I will compare it to the authorized digital release from ArkivMusic. Incidentally, there are at least 42 Sony/RCA deleted and/or 'first time on CD' titles available at arkivsong.com, including 'Raisin' and the Joseph Papp production of 'The Threepenny Opera' with Raul Julia.

The magazine name and the editor's sex the only things that changed from the original movie to the musical: the town changed from Warsaw, VT to Stoneyhead. Did the show's creators think "Warsaw" sounded too Polish?
