About The Producers, Recording - A Musical Romp with Mel Brooks [DVD]:
This irresistibly funny DVD should have been called a “gay romp with Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom and a cast of thousands in the recording studio.” Starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, and the impish Mel Brooks as the genial host, it is a hilarious behind-the-scenes glimpse at the recording sessions for the cast album of the celebrated Broadway show. Along for the fun are director Susan Stroman and cast members Roger Bart (Carmen Ghia), Gary Beach (Roger De Bris), Cady Huffman (Ulla) and Brad Oscar (Franz Liebkind) as they lay down the vocal tracks for the original cast album, in 85 minutes of sheer hilarity, antics and songs, and more show-stopping numbers (not all sung!) than in the musical itself.
