‘Into The Woods’ Memories

Trust Stephen Sondheim never to do anything twice. Having dealt in quick succession with a pointillist work (Sunday In The Park), a grand guignol drama (Sweeney Todd), and a Japanese-style show (Pacific Overtures), in connivance with James Lapine, he decided to approach the world of children’s fairy tales, but with a twist all his own. The resulting musical was Into The Woods which opened on November 5, 1987 at the Martin Beck Theatre where it remained until it closed two years later after playing 764 performances.

The show closed on September 3rd, 1989. Check out the pictures and a special playlist featured below!
