Preeminent theatrical photographer Joan Marcus sits down with us and talks about her experience shooting the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Marcus has been photographing Broadway and Off-Broadway shows since the late 1980’s whose work has been featured in many magazines, papers, and websites. While for most shows she has had the chance to take both “production shots”, photographing the show as it is being performed, and “set-ups” photographing the cast onstage or in her studio under her direction, for Cabaret she was not able to do the latter. She captured every magical moment as it was performed live and for the first time all in digital.
